chairs, boxes, sound, projection in cups, coffee
Sound: 73 min.

"Meet me in the now" is an installation about the "now", the current moment.
The soundtrack is 14 interviews about the "now". The two cups represent a personal conversation between two people. The conversation is projected in the cups, as if the cups are "talking" to each other.
At the installation there is served coffee.

		<description>RESEARCHING THE NOW APART FROM SOCIETY

&#60;img src="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/IMG_0713_1.JPG" width="670" height="502" width_o="2048" height_o="1536" src_o="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/IMG_0713_1_o.JPG" data-mid="24487627"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
For 4 days I locked myself up on a campsite in Rotterdam. I wanted to research the "now" alone and apart from society. Only sleeping, eating and thinking. Imagine not doing anything for 4 days. No people, no books, no internet, no phone. Then you will experience the "now"!

RESEARCHING THE NOW IN EVERYDAY LIFE

Clive Wearing is a man with a short time memory of 7 sec. Which means his life only consists of the past 7 seconds. Having Clive as my dogma, I asked people about their 7 seconds. The participants got assignments about their "now", during one week, on their mobile phones, in order to catch them in the moment.

After the assignment I talked to the participants and a lot of them had appreciated the small tasks. It had reminded them to pay more attention to how they where spending their time - and getting the most out of their personal "now".

After this response I wanted the participants to sent assignments to me. Therefore I decided to research my own "now" and my daily life:

RESEARCHING MY NOW IN EVERYDAY LIFE

THE NOW VS. A SPECIAL MOMENT

&#60;img src="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/specialmoment.jpg" width="670" height="430" width_o="816" height_o="524" src_o="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/specialmoment_o.jpg" data-mid="25084644"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
I asked people to think about a special moment and what it contained. I realized that when you ask people a personal question they are not afraid to give you a personal answer. A personal meeting in the "now".

RESEARCHING MY OWN SPECIAL MOMENTS.

&#60;img src="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/IMG_8127.jpg" width="670" height="386" width_o="1600" height_o="924" src_o="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/IMG_8127_o.jpg" data-mid="24487726"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
Observing my own everyday life, choosing special moments and categorizing them.

MEETING PEOPLE IN THE NOW

&#60;img src="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/thump.jpg" width="555" height="400" width_o="555" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/thump_o.jpg" data-mid="25141899"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

"MEET ME IN THE NOW" was a silent performance to research peoples thoughts about the now. I invited people to come and meet me in the now at a cafe in Rotterdam. Both strangers and friends were invited. During 5 days, for 40 hours, I interviewed people in the "now" about the "now". This resulted in 14 personal interviews about the "now", how we live our life and wishes about how life could be.

&#60;img src="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/IMG_8125.jpg" width="670" height="1165" width_o="920" height_o="1600" src_o="http://payload95.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/4207478/IMG_8125_o.jpg" data-mid="24487724"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

"Frirum" is my bachelor project where I worked with the period of time cancer patients wait before going to the consultation where they will know if they are diagnosed with cancer or not. This consultation can change their life in a second.

The final installation is intended to give the patient a break before they have the important conversation. Below you can see the original waiting room, and the development of the project.

&#60;img src="http://payload69.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/3690447/ventevrelse1.jpg" width="670" height="893" width_o="1368" height_o="1824" src_o="http://payload69.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/3690447/ventevrelse1_o.jpg" data-mid="19161801"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

RESEARCH

RESEARCH
I started at the Medical Infirmary at Vejle Hospital, where I observed the department, patients, nurses and patients before the consultation.

&#60;img src="http://payload69.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/3690447/observationer.jpg" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload69.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/3690447/observationer_o.jpg" data-mid="19161734"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Summary of the observations.

Blue = Good area

To the left in the drawing you see the waiting room where cancer patients are waiting. In the right side of the drawing you see the small rooms where the consultations take place.

CANCERFORUM.DK

&#60;img src="http://payload69.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/3690447/sprgeskema.jpg" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload69.cargocollective.com/1/3/125469/3690447/sprgeskema_o.jpg" data-mid="19166629"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

After my observations on the hospital, I made a questionnaire for cancer patients. I contacted cancerforum.dk, which is an anonymous forum for cancer patients. Cancerforum.dk made a post about my project, enclosing a link to the questionnaire that users could answer.

Some described how important it is to get something to drink and something to read in. By asking more detailed questions, for example about their mood in the waiting room, or what patients thought of, I found out that they are all very nervous, tense and thinking about cancer.

CLIVE WEARING RESEARCH PROJEKT

CLIVE Wearing RESEARCH PROJECT
The average of lung cancer patients in the waiting room is 60 + and the majority are smokers.

This average is a fact, but the feeling patients experience, I think we can all experience, and I therefore chose to examine what "non-sick" people do and appreciate in everyday life.

Research project is based on a man called Clive Wearing that have a short-term memory in 7 seconds. Based on this, I sent tasks to 37 participants.

See all questions and answers in the film:

Jeg besøgte huset i to omgange.

VISIT HEJMDAL, CANCER PATIENT HOUSE
Through "Kræftens Bekæmpelse" I found Maggie Centers, which are houses that act as cancer counseling and activity centers for cancer patients.
I visited the house on two occasions. On the first visit I was there as a guest.And second time as a participant in art therapy. Art therapy is offered three times a week and it is almost the same 10-20 people attending each time. The participants are cancer patients or former cancer patients.

I observed that the course was not about cancer and disease. The focus was on what and how to paint. An example would be that if you always used the same colors or compositions, they would discuss if there could be a reason for it.
During the breaks, it was more personal and participants talked about everyday things and cancer. But the word cancer was not mentioned but was replaced by the word "disease".
They talked not directly about the disease, but more about the way the disease affected their lives.
I talked to them about the tension I had felt in the waiting room, and in the questionnaires.
The women talked about their time in the waiting room. They talked about that they where nervous while waiting for the consultation. Therefore they likes to read or watch television to think about something else.
Several of them talked about the many waiting rooms were too small and they did not feel that their private space was respected.

IDEUDVIKLING

IDEA DEVELOPMENT
My research showed the immidiate wishes of the patients. Such as water, coffee, magazines, but there is no solution to deal with the anxiety that patients experience while waiting.

I therefore developed various tests, how to give patients a positive experience and still respect their situation.

The film shows examples of attempts to model the waiting room.

On the roof of Vejle Hospital, you can see most of the city and the countryside around the hospital. I wanted to create this space inside the waiting room.

The idea was to take 4 cameras on the roof of the hospital and filming film the view. This view can be seen in the waiting room at the 4 walls.

I presented the idea to the department who agreed to try to project the views of Vejle in their waiting room.

Fotografier af opsætning og afprøvning af installationen.

EVALUERING

EVALUATION
During the trial period I observed how patients perceived the installation.
There were many who were engaged in the installation. Patients were talking about the installation or started a conversation about the weather or morning traffic.
There were also many who did not notice the installation, which is good because I don't want to surprise or entertain people in such a difficult situation.

For evaluation I made two questionnaires where I could ask patients more directly what they think of the installation.
Several patients wrote that the installation made a difference for them while they where waiting.

The project was such a success that the Medical Infirmary are negotiating with a company to realize the project.
The waiting room will look like this:

DET ENDELIGE FRIRUM THE FINAL "FRIRUM"

“The unsaid” is a webpage that works as a confessional.
The page will listen to your secret. It will record it, analyse it and convert it into a 3D form so you can now see and feel your secret. The page will afterwards delete the secret.
Print and fold it or get the form, a balloon and helium – And set it free!

“Imagine” is a movie made for Mette Mikkelsen, the director of e-trans, for a new project concerning the awareness of consumption of electricity.
We wanted to make people curios about energy, so instead of showing them windmills and nuclear power station, we focused on other kinds of energy. As for example the energy between two people.

The movie is being used as inspiration and to show future investors.
